BIOGRAPHY

Ginger Gore Russell is a lens-based artist residing in Deep East Texas. She is currently pursuing a Master of Fine Arts in photography at Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, under the mentorship of Amanda Breitbach. Ginger earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts from Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas, where she studied with esteemed professors Keith Carter, Osamu James Nakagawa, and Prince V. Thomas.

After obtaining her undergraduate degree in May 1999, Ginger worked as a graphic designer for a local internet company. In late 2000, she and her husband relocated to Santa Fe, New Mexico, embarking on a new adventure. There, Ginger quickly established herself as a wedding and events photographer, taking advantage of Santa Fe’s status as one of the top wedding destinations in the continental US. Over the course of fifteen years, she had the privilege of capturing memorable moments for couples, families, and corporate clients amidst the stunning landscapes of the Land of Enchantment. Her extensive commercial photography experience allowed her to accumulate the equivalent of 10,000 hours of practice, exemplifying Malcolm Gladwell’s principle that mastery comes through dedicated practice.

In 2016, Ginger retired from commercial photography and returned to her native Texas to dedicate herself to fine art photography. Building on her extensive experience, she now focuses on creative exploration and artistic expression. She returned to college in 2021 and earned her Master of Arts in Studio Art in 2024. Currently, Ginger serves as an adjunct professor at Stephen F. Austin State University, where she teaches Photography I, introducing students to darkroom techniques and fine art principles.
